Oslo

Oslo and Jarno van Erp showed a very strong performance during the final of the KWPN Stallion Competition class L and came 2nd in this final after a very nice jump-off ride. Oslo jumped with a lot of power and showed a beautiful scope, which attracted the attention of many jumping horse enthusiasts. Many people were also pleasantly surprised by his development last year. Oslo has a lot of 'blood', which does not always help in the development as a young horse, but later in top sport you need this.

We think we have a phenomenon on our hands with Oslo. This stallion has everything in one; power, fast reflexes and great technique. In addition, he is a beautiful stallion with a very strong back and connections. His father is the very good jumping Cornet Obolensky son Côte de Zélande who was also very sharp in the beginning but is now jumping around in a spectacular way at 1.40m under Mathijs van Asten.

But it is precisely this sharpness that has suited this parent strain wonderfully. His mother Kelvira is an Elite mare by the stallion Chaman, who jumped internationally under Ludger beerbaum. Then comes the excellent performance sire from France, Diamant de Semilly, who won team gold for France at the World Championships in Jerez de la Frontera with Eric Levallois. In the 3rd generation of his mother's line comes the World Cup winner Libero H. What a great jumping horse this was under Jos Lansink, an institution to dream of. This mother's line is now really completed because this Libero H daughter Olanda is the full sister of the Dutch top sire Numero Uno, who made a big splash under Marco Kutcher.

Exterior:
Oslo is a well-developed, appealing stallion with a good rectangular model. The head is expressive. The neck has good length with a slight head-neck connection. The pasterns are correctly positioned. The foundation is well developed and of good quality. The feet are well developed, of good shape and of more than sufficient quality. The heels are well developed.

KWPN Research Report 2022:

The trot has sufficient scope and sufficient power. The stallion has more than sufficient posture and balance when moving. The canter is active with more than sufficient space and light-footed, a good balance with the stallion changing well. Oslo jumps very well with his body upwards, with very good reflexes and a lot of body use. Oslo jumps with a good wither-shoulder technique and a very good leg technique. Oslo seems very cautious and shows a lot of ability and a lot of overview. Oslo has a lot to a lot of talent as a jumping horse and gives his rider a good feeling.

Stable behavior:
Honest, reliable stallion, easy to handle and quiet in the stable.

Breeding/mating advice:
Oslo can add jumping qualities, especially reflexes and technique, to jumping horse breeding.

Description sire Côte de Zélande;

Successful under Mathijs van Asten 1.40m (7-year-old)

As a 2.5 year old stallion, this son of top sire Cornet Obolensky earned his selection for the performance test at the KWPN Stallion Inspection due to his great jumping technique and unlimited scope. He was bred by the Van der Plasse family from their fantastic sports lineage in which the mares prove and have proven themselves in sport at a high level.

Côte de Zélande is the second offspring of the mare Surprise Delta Mossel Z (2011), a descendant of the powerful jumping Spartacus who himself won the Oslo Grand Prix.

Grandmother W Delta Mossel Jantje jumped internationally at 1.50m level with Doron Kuipers and Gianni Govoni. Suprise is her only offspring. Her father Pilgrim II, together with Bjorn Nagel, was part of the Ukraine team that finished fourth at the World Championships in Aachen in 2006. A year later, Pilgrim II and David McPherson finished 14th individually for Great Britain at the European Championships in Mannheim and won bronze. with the team. Ricardo Kierkegaard rode the stallion under the name Pelgrim Z in 2010 at the WEG in Kentucky. Of the 14 Pilgrim Z children registered in Horsetelex, eight compete at 1.35 level and higher.

So Lovely is the third mother of Côte de Zélande. The Heartbreaker daughter competed internationally in the 1.40m class with Carolien van de Plasse. She is grandmother of three 1.35m horses through her Parco daughter Vanderplasse. So Lovely's father Heartbreaker is an absolute phenomenon in breeding and was so under the saddle of Peter Geerink. We see Heartbreaker twice in the pedigree of Côte de Zélande Delta Mossel Z, as the sire of So Lovely and as the dam's sire of his sire Cornet Obolensky.

So Lovely is the only daughter of Nouvelle. This Burggraaf daughter has a well-known full sister in Princess. In combination with Heartbreaker she produced the Grand Prix show jumping horse Upgrader and several national show jumping horses. Nouvelle and Princess are daughters of Burggraaf, who jumped at the highest level with his great jumping ability. Jigranta, the mother of both Burggraaf mares, jumped at 1.40m herself and has inherited the ability of father Ramiro.

Côte de Zélande's father Cornet Obolensky was a stylist under the saddle of Marco Kutcher and won many Nations Cups for Germany and achieved many podium places in Grand Prix's all over the world. Even more impressive is his inheritance power. His children put him at the top of the rankings and his grandchildren are also breaking through at the highest level.

With the Côte de Zélande family it is not the quantity, but the quality that stands out. It is the reflexes of Heartbreaker and Cornet Obolensky and the ability of Clinton, Spartacus, Pilgrim Z, Burggraaf and Ramiro that make this stallion so particularly interesting and a real top talent.
