Spotilas is bred from a unique combination of one of the world’s best dressage stallions and Denmark’s strongest Knabstrupper dam line!

At his licensing, Spotilas was awarded Premium Stallion and received top marks – including a 9 for trot! He is without doubt one of the future stars of the Knabstrupper breed. In addition to his exceptional movement in all three gaits, Spotilas also boasts an outstanding temperament. He descends from one of Denmark’s most distinguished dam lines. As a 4-year-old, he was awarded Premium Stallion status with a total score of 9 for overall impression. He passed his performance test with 861 points, receiving highlights such as 9 for walk, 9 for canter, and a 10 in the veterinary evaluation. At his licensing, Spotilas also achieved the highest scores in free jumping, with 8 for technique and 8 for capacity. With superb movement, a strong pedigree, and a wonderful character, Spotilas is a true asset to modern sport horse and Knabstrupper breeding.

Spotilas’ sire, the legendary Totilas, is a triple World Champion, European Champion, and World Cup winner. With Edward Gal in the saddle, he set three world records and became the first horse ever to break the magical 90% barrier in dressage. Totilas has also proven himself as a sire of both licensed stallions and successful Grand Prix horses. Among his most notable sons are Glock’s Toto Jr., who is excelling in both breeding and sport, and Total U.S., who placed 6th at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Totilas is clearly the most influential dressage stallion of his time, currently with 11 offspring named on the longlists for the 2024 Paris Olympics. In 2023, Totilas ranked no. 1 on HorseTelex and no. 4 on the WBFSH Dressage Sire Ranking.

This dam line includes the best sport Knabstrupper bloodlines and traces back to three of the four historic Knabstrupper foundation lines. The legendary stallion Rasmus af Damgaard appears multiple times in the pedigree, reflecting linebreeding to the most influential dressage-focused Knabstrupper sire. His offspring include several Grand Prix horses and numerous Medium Tour and Small Tour competitors. Among the most notable are Paralympic Gold Medalist Zanko GP (ridden by Ann Cathrin Lübbe), as well as Lukas af Nørhede, who brought home multiple Paralympic medals—gold and several silvers—with rider Anne Dunham. Spotilas’ maternal lineage also features the medal stallion Conetti Lynghøj by Aleksander OLH and the gold medal stallion Apollon KNN. Another notable name in the pedigree is Don Ibrahim, sire of Hugin, the famous stallion of Bent Branderup. Spotilas’ damsire, Bjørnhøjgaard’s Sleipner, was named best stallion at his licensing as a 3-year-old, receiving an overall score of 8, including two 9s in free jumping.

Spotilas is developing exceptionally well as a promising sport horse. In 2023, he was licensed by the Warmblood and Sport Horse Association AES. The AES licensing committee sees great potential in Spotilas and issued the following statement:
